I was born and grew up north of Buffalo, New York. I attended public schools in Kenmore, New York and did my undergraduate and graduate work in business at the University of Rochester. After teaching school and coaching for five years I entered the business world with Bausch & Lomb as they were introducing a breakthrough product in the SOFLENS soft contact lens. There I worked in sales, sales management, international business development and product line management.

From there I moved to Pharmacia Inc. as the general manager of the Ophthalmics division introducing the market changing product Healon to the United States ophthalmic surgical market. As general manager, I first encountered the Lots® Management Process as a tool for leaders to steer their organization. Utilizing Lots® as a leader convinced me of its effectiveness and in 1986 I left Pharmacia to start LOTSCENTER Inc. as its President and a process leader.

Since that time I have worked with companies in the medical device area (Bard, Bausch & Lomb, Olympus Surgical, Summit Technology), instrumentation products (Air Shields Inc. Corning Life Sciences, Wallac Inc.) dental implants (Nobelpharma, Straumann), pharmaceutical (Novartis, Watson Laboratories, Pharmacia, Boehringer Ingelheim), dermatological (Ortho Dermatology), hospital (F.F. Thompson Health System, Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, Hunterdon Medical System), banking (Shawmut National Corp.) engineering and construction (Munters Inc., A. Larson Inc. American Connections Int.) publishers (New Jersey Countryside Magazine), lobbying and educational foundations (National Pharmaceutical Council, Mainstream Inc. Center at Lions Mouth) and not for profit humanitarian groups (Briteside Adult Day Care, Hunterdon Hospice, Hospice of Morris County).
